The Association of Finance and Insurance Professionals (AFIP) Certification program is the most effective means to promote legal compliance and ethical conduct. The program’s course text helps protect the dealer with excerpts taken directly from applicable state and federal regulations. An enforced Code of Ethics makes the F&I practitioner personally accountable for his or her actions. Auto Advisory Services has taken the lead in California by working with AFIP to develop a California-specific version of the AFIP Certification to address the unique issues faced by F&I personnel in this state.
